Good evening. I’m reaching out to you tonight regarding a Latvian young man, Artis, who wants to come to the U.S. on an international high school student exchange. I’m hoping that you might be able to circulate his information to help us find a host family for him for this academic year. Artis describes himself as family oriented, studious, independent, good with kids, and is interested in swimming, bicycling, skiing, and computer technology.

AFS is one of the oldest and largest exchange student organizations. Students from all over the world participate. The students enroll in your local public high school and live with the host family. Our J-1 visa program is a non-profit organization (thus we are not reaping profits from the work we are doing) and we seek a diverse mix of students in regard to both socio-economic and geographic reachThe purpose of the Exchange Visitor (J-1) program is fully to support cultural exchange, mutual understanding and grassroots diplomacy. J-1 designated sponsors adhere to strict regulations that support student welfare and place the responsibility for supporting students and their families squarely on the shoulders of the sponsor by holding them accountable.
Thank you for your help. Please direct any questions to me by either phone or email—I’ll be happy to answer.
